Jamie Vardy makes Birmingham City promise ahead of the Championship relegation decider.
Latest Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive, as champions Leicester City may give Blues a significant final day favor.
Jamie Vardy has promised that champions Leicester City will “go again” against Blackburn Rovers on the last day of the season, which will be welcome news for Birmingham City.

Vardy and the Foxes were celebrating on Monday night after defeating Preston 3-0 to win the Championship. But Vardy swiftly made it clear that Enzo Maresca’s team will not take their foot off the accelerator when they face Blackburn at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, as they aim for 100 points to cap an incredible season.

Leicester can only reach that point total with a victory vs Blackburn, as they are currently at 97 points. It means they will go all out for three points before being declared champions, which might benefit Birmingham as they fight to stay in the Championship.

Blues will finish the season in the relegation zone, in 22nd place, three points behind Blackburn (19th), Sheffield Wednesday (20th), and one point behind Plymouth. So, if Birmingham win Norwich City in their final encounter and Vardy and Leicester beat Blackburn, the Blues will finish ahead of Blackburn on goal difference and secure survival.

“We’ve got another target now which is 100 points on Saturday,” said Vardy. “We’ll celebrate tonight and then go again.”
