Head coach of the WARRINGTON WOLVES, Sam Burgess, has brushed off any idea of Jason Demetriou joining the South Sydney Rabbitohs, given the player’s mounting criticism at the Redfern club.Post-match reaction | Sam Burgess | Wire TV

After a horrendous start to the 2024 NRL season, Demetriou’s Rabbitohs are presently comfortably outside the play-off spots.

As a result, the rumor mill has gone into overdrive, with Burgess’ name being mentioned frequently as a possible Demetriou replacement should the latter be let go.

Burgess has confirmed that he will honor his two-year contract at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, so as things stand, he has no intention of leaving the Wolves.

Burgess responded to rumors of a possible return to Souths before Warrington’s match against the Leigh Leopards on Saturday afternoon, saying: “Nothing in it whatsoever, I’ve got a two-year contract here and I will honour that.”South Sydney Rabbitohs sack coach Jason Demetriou | news.com.au — Australia's leading news site

“I’m thrilled because (club owner) Simon Moran and all of the staff have been amazing with me. I’m having a great time here and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.

With a Challenge Cup semi-final and a relatively certain spot inside the Super League top four, that will be welcome news to Warrington’s supporters.
