Manuel Ott, a midfielder of mixed parentage (Filipino-German), will return to Terengganu FC (TFC) this season.

Terengganu Football Club Sdn Bhd (TFCSB) chief executive officer Mohd Sabri Abas stated that the 31-year-old midfielder will be able to complete the Asean import quota that has been available since Thailand’s Adisak Kraisorn left last season.

Mohd Sabri stated that the Philippines international, who has signed a one-year contract, is anticipated to wear the No. 8 shirt.

“TFC’s head coach (Tomislav Steinbrickner) agreed to hire Manuel this season due to his quality and extensive experience playing in the Philippines and Thailand leagues.

“Manuel is no stranger to the team or head coach because he had worked with Steinbruckner during the 2022 season when the latter was TFC’s technical director,” he stated in a statement released this afternoon.

Mohd Sabri also stated that Manuel will play with Uzbekistan import Nurrillo Tukhtasinov in midfield.

“Manuel’s capability and quality have been demonstrated in the past, as he helped Terengganu reach the 2022 FA Cup final and competed in the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) cup competition.

Apart from the duo, TFC has also signed Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) players Muhammad Safawi Rasid and Akhyar Rashid, albeit on loan. — Bernama
