Namibian star Prins Tjiueza in action. Explaining the Cape Town City FC contract
Namibia’s star, Prins Tjiueza

After drawing a lot of attention from PSL clubs, new information has emerged about Namibian player Prins Tjiueza’s status with Cape Town City FC.

Tjiueza performed admirably for The Brave Warriors throughout their 2023 AFCON campaign, prompting interest from a number of teams, including Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 21-year-old suffered an ankle injury during Namibia’s Round of 16 encounter against Angola in the Ivory Coast.

As a result, the injury has emerged as a significant setback for Cape Town City, who had planned to use Tjiueza, their only purchase during the January transfer window.

And, as DStv Premiership action resumes after the AFCON break, FARPost is reliably informed that Tjiueza has yet to join the Eric Tinkler coaching staff.

According to a reliable source, Prins is currently at his hometown of Walvis Bay, Namibia. But from what I’ve heard, he failed the physical owing to his injury and will take roughly three months to heal.

“Also, Cape Town City will give him another look at the end of the season.” “They didn’t want to sign him because he would not have played much this season.”

Tjiueza’s agent, Bevan Dicks, revealed that the rising star is due for surgery.

“Prins will have surgery and will come back stronger than before. But I can’t comment on the overall scenario right now,” he remarked.

Moreso, Tjiueza is likely to be fully fit by the end of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

The left-footed maestro made 15 appearances in all competitions at the Kosovo club, KF Liria. He scored five goals, with one assist to his name.

CT City will, however, have to make do without him, as they are currently in second position in the standings. They were aiming to fill the void left by Colombian Juan Zapata. Zapata left last month after a rather unsuccessful stint under Tinkler.

Additionally, City parted ways with veteran midfielder Thato Mokeke. Mokeke has been training with cross-town rivals, Cape Town Spurs, in an attempt to retain his place in the elite league.

Plausibly, goalkeeper Darren Keet has signed a two-year contract extension, while midfielder Taahir Goedeman penned a four-year contract.
