Dirk Kuyt, a Liverpool icon, says Brighton’s Evan Ferguson should be on Liverpool’s radar, although Virgil van Dijk remains ‘one of the greatest’.

Ferguson, 18, has joined Roberto De Zerbi’s Seagulls squad, as so many other young players have done before him. Last season, he scored six goals in 19 Premier League matches, but he has already scored four goals in four games this season, due in part to a hat-trick against Newcastle United last weekend.

For the first time in the club’s history, Brighton may compete in European football, beginning with the Europa League group stages later this month. However, players like Alexis MacAllister have sought transfers to top-flight opponents in order to further their careers.

In his current form, Kuyt believes Ferguson will be one of the next Brighton talents to leave the club, and believes Liverpool should be interested in a player who rejected them at the academy level.

“Evan Ferguson appears to be dangerous to me!” “He’s in good shape,” said the Dutchman to BettingSites.co.uk. “He’s an intriguing player to watch, and I’m looking forward to following him over the next few months.” He’s one of the Premier League’s players to watch right now, in my opinion.

“Ferguson will undoubtedly be watched by top-six clubs such as Liverpool, but he’ll need to keep going for a longer period of time to demonstrate his ability to have a very consistent season.” But based on what I’ve seen so far, he could be on the radar of the top sides.”

Van Dijk, now captain of Kuyt’s own nation and a fellow Dutch international to play for Liverpool, was also on the previous Reds No.18.

The centre back has been chastised for his performances when the entire team has struggling, particularly last season. Despite his injury problems in the 2020/21 season and recent red card, Kuyt thinks that the No.4 is’still one of the finest’.

“People forget that Van Dijk came back from a very difficult injury,” he remarked. It takes time to recover from that, and I believe he has done an excellent job of recovering.

“Liverpool’s other players must perform to their full potential, and I believe van Dijk is determined to do so.” I saw the first two games he played, and he played extremely well and did an outstanding job with Konate.

“He was in command of the defence even in the Newcastle game.” He was also at ease on the ball. However, after 28 minutes, he made a minor error and received a red card – a severe one in my opinion. However, that is football, and a minor error as a defender or custodian may be costly.

“He’s doing fantastically well, the team is producing results, and he’s now captain.” I’m optimistic that he’ll be able to return to his former form. I believe he is looking forward to proving everyone incorrect.

“He’s still a great defender, but his best was so high.” He’s still one of the top defenders in the league. Liverpool also plays with a high line, which makes it difficult.”
