Former Akron cornerback Devonte Golden-Nelson commits to WVU football

Former Akron cornerback Devonte Golden-Nelson committed to the West Virginia University football team in social media post Sunday morning.

Golden-Nelson played at Akron from 2022-24 after spending two seasons at Memphis in which he played in just four games. He made his first starts with the Zips in 2022 as a redshirt freshman, also posting 11 tackles in the process.

In 2023, he played in 11 games and recorded his first interception. He finished the year with 22 tackles and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

His 2024 season was equally as impressive. He recorded seven pass breakups and 24 total tackles.

He has one season of eligibility remaining.

WVU football has picked up a commitment from another transfer, this time flipping that commit from another power conference program.

Ty’kieast Crawford, an offensive lineman who played the last four seasons at Arkansas, announced his commitment to WVU Monday via social media. The senior from Carthage, Texas, previously intended to transfer to UCLA.

Crawford, a 6-5, 324-pound lineman, is entering his sixth collegiate season. Over the past five seasons, he’s made 39 appearances and eight starts at Arkansas and Charlotte. He appeared in just one game for the Razorbacks last season.

He played in every game in 2021 as a sophomore for the Razorbacks, earning snaps on both offense and special teams. The following season, he contributed to an Arkansas offense that registered 6,128 total yards, second-most in program history.

The product of Carthage High School was previously a unanimous four-star prep recruit, rated by one recruiting service as one of the top 20 offensive linemen in the country.
