  • Siyabgonga Ngezana has signed a five-year deal with FCSB after they agreed a €600,000 (R12m) transfer fee with Kaizer Chiefs, iDiski Times has learnt.

Ngezana, 25, completed this surprise move to the 26-time Romanian league champions on Thursday the club confirmed.

It marked an incredible turnaround in fortunes for the player who was ridiculed by his own fans and lost his place in the starting line-up under Arthur Zwane before returning in January, where he became one of the first names on the team sheet.

After several commanding performances, he staked his claim in the Amakhosi starting line-up but contract talks for a potential extension reached an impasse between the two parties

Moldova Super Liga champions FC Sheriff, who will play in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, then came in last month and made an opening offer of a free loan with an option to buy for around R2.75 million, his agency New Generation Footballers Management confirmed to iDiski Times.

The Soweto giants held firm with an asking price in excess of R8 million for their development product, should any of the interested clubs be keen on his services.

The Romanian giants, FCSB then came in with an outright bid of €600,000 (R12-million), before the towering defender penned his five-year deal with the side which is set for the UEFA Conference League next season.

This publication understands he’s now in the process of securing his visa, before making the trip to Europe for the next step of his career.
