The 7 women who have reached the most WTA 1000 finals: Serena Williams with 33, Steffi Graf 3rd
Serena Williams holds the record for the most finals reached at WTA 1000 tournaments, while Steffi Graf and Maria Sharapova both make the top five.
There are currently 10 WTA 1000 tournaments on the women’s tour, with this category of tournament replacing the Premier Mandatory and Premier 5 events in 2021.
Tournaments of this level were named Tier I events from 1990 to 2008 before changing to the Premier categories in 2009.
Here are the seven players who have reached the most finals at WTA 1000 level tournaments.

Simona Halep has progressed to 18 finals and secured nine titles from her 86 appearances at WTA 1000 events in her career to date.
The Romanian overcame Angelique Kerber to win her maiden WTA 1000 level final at the 2014 Qatar Open.
Halep downed Beatriz Haddad Maia in her most recent WTA 1000 title match at the 2022 Canadian Open.

Monica Seles reached 18 championship matches from the 39 Tier I tournaments she entered, winning nine titles.
The Yugoslavian-American prevailed against Judith Wiesner in her first Tier I final at the 1990 Miami Open.
Seles was beaten by Lindsay Davenport in her final Tier I title match at the 2003 Pan Pacific Open.
5. Lindsay Davenport – 21
Lindsay Davenport featured in 21 finals and collected 11 titles from her 55 campaigns at WTA 1000 level events.
The American fell to Kimiko Date at the 1995 Pan Pacific Open in her first Tier I final, while she beat Irina Spirlea to win her maiden crown at this level of tournament in Indian Wells in 1997.
Davenport defeated Patty Schnyder in her final Tier I title match at the 2005 Zurich Open.

Maria Sharapova reached 25 finals across the 85 WTA 1000 level tournaments she played in, winning 14 titles.
The Russian lost to Alicia Molik in her maiden Tier I final at the 2004 Zurich Open before claiming her first title at this category of event at the 2005 Pan Pacific Open.
Sharapova overcame Carla Suarez Navarro at the 2015 Italian Open in her last-ever final at WTA 1000 level.

Steffi Graf played in 25 finals and secured 18 titles from the 36 appearances she made at WTA 1000 level tournaments.
The German downed Chris Evert in her first Tier I level championship match at the 1988 Miami Open.
Graf was defeated by Serena Williams in her last Tier I title match at the 1999 Indian Wells Open.
2. Martina Hingis – 27
Martina Hingis featured in 27 finals from her 61 campaigns at WTA 1000 level tournaments, claiming 17 titles.
The Swiss was beaten by Conchita Martinez at the 1996 Italian Open in her first Tier I final, while she secured her maiden title at this category of event at the 1997 Pan Pacific Open when she received a walkover against Steffi Graf.
Hingis defeated Ana Ivanovic in the championship match at the 2007 Pan Pacific Open, a Tier I event, to win her last-ever WTA singles title.

Serena Williams reached a record 33 championship matches from her 85 appearances at WTA 1000 events and claimed a record 23 titles.
The American defeated Steffi Graf in her maiden final at this level of tournament at the 1999 Indian Wells Open.
Williams retired in the first set of her 2019 Canadian Open final with Bianca Andreescu in her last title match at WTA 1000 level.
