Simone Biles Donating $4M to Harris-Walz Campaign?

U.S. gymnast Simone Biles plans to announce a $4 million donation to the 2024 Kamala Harris-Tim Walz presidential ticket.
in the last few days of the 2024 Paris Olympics, a post on X (formerly Twitter) alleged that Team USA’s Simone Biles, often considered the most talented gymnast in the world, was going to announce a $4 million donation to the U.S. presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. The post was immediately popular, gaining over 87,000 likes at the same time users shared the supposed news to Facebook.

Many readers asked Snopes to check into the claim.

Despite the original X post citing “a source at Sports Illustrated” for its information, Snopes found no evidence suggesting Biles planned to make a donation to the Harris campaign at all, especially not one for $4 million.

Furthermore, the post only claimed Biles was going to “formally announce” her donation, not that she had already donated. Since this wording only implies that Biles will, but has not yet, donated money to the Harris campaign, applying a cut-and-dry “true” or “false” label to the claim becomes impossible. As such, we have rated this claim “Unfounded.”

It’s also important to note that making a $4 million donation directly to any political campaign would be illegal under federal law. According to the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) website, individuals are allowed to donate up to $3,300 to an individual candidate every election. Higher donation limits apply if the donation is to a Political Action Committee (PAC) or a political party, and only Super PACs, which are banned from contributing directly to political campaigns themselves, can accept an unlimited amount of money.

Federal law also dictates that every donation to a political campaign must be tracked and recorded with the FEC. Although the exact wording of the claim suggested that Biles had not yet donated, we still searched the FEC’s campaign finance database for donations made by “Simone Biles” out of due diligence.

We found no results from 2023 and 2024, meaning that Biles had not made any political donations since the beginning of 2023.

Further placing the claim into doubt is how much money Biles actually has. Several articles claimed that Biles was worth $25 million, citing the figure to the website CelebrityNetWorth.com. While Snopes could not independently confirm that figure, Biles earned around $10 million in 2022 and $7.1 million in 2023, according to Forbes. As such, we felt that $25 million would be a reasonable estimate of Biles’ net worth.

However, quick math on that figure shows that a $4 million donation was about 16% of her total net worth. Although not impossible (again that’s why we rated this claim “Unfounded,”), we found it highly improbable that Biles would donate 16% of her net worth in one swoop.

Gymnast Simone Biles may have unwittingly “revealed gymnastics’ biggest secret” in one of her latest videos.

The four-time U.S. Olympian may have made a mistake when she made a TikTok with some of her teammates, and social media users were quick to notice. If you haven’t seen it yet, prepare to be shocked. This is truly revolutionary
Biles is only the fourth American gymnast to compete in the Olympics, but she is already considered one of the greatest gymnasts of all time. But it seems she’s not very good at keeping her sporting secrets under wraps after a simple TikTok video of her went viral, exposing a well-kept secret.

The 27-year-old’s TikTok was then created by fellow gymnast Jan Günther and he posts sports-related content on the social media app every day. He begins by explaining that the athlete has revealed “the biggest secret in gymnastics” as a “gymnastics spotter” can be seen in the background of the video in question.

This is news that is sure to shake up the sports world, as Gunther goes on to explain that these spotters, dressed head to toe in green, train rigorously for months to help gymnasts maintain their positions by correcting them without being noticed – apparently because the color green can be overlooked on TV, and the people in the arena are blind. It’s no wonder they manage to pull off all the moves and flips they try.

Günther even revealed footage of the little green men warming up, finally confirming the rumor, while (not so secret) footage was also released of US gymnastics coach Laurent Landy talking to onlookers. \ “Good luck today, be safe, be sure to protect our athletes and do not see,” he asked for observers.

If you have already realized that all the videos are a parody, ridiculing those who doubt the gymnast and emphasizing how difficult sport is. “All the gymnastics you see are actually impossible, and they’re all performed by observers,” Gunther explained sarcastically.

Apparently (not really), the little green men train for “months” to make the performance “as realistic as possible” without being visible. Gunter explains that because spectators want gymnasts to do more “difficult” things on the floor, professionals have no choice but to hire spotters.

Viewers took to the comments section to joke about the “reveal.” One user joked, “And I wonder if the people watching this in person are watching them or something?”

A second wrote, “As a gymnast this is true and they help me every day.”

A third pointed out, “Just kidding.”

Another user said, “As a gymnast I can assure you, there was a big scandal a few years ago at a competition where a spotter pushed a girl he was already dating off the beam, but she replaced the girl with another spotter.

Scandalous information – if it’s true, of course.
