Hurdling queen Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone would be happy to share her title with world 100-meter champion Sha’Carri Richardson and four other American female competitors, even if she realizes Richardson encountered some difficulties during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s sister-in-law gave her a crown as a symbol of her dominance after she successfully defended her Olympic 400mH championship at the Paris 2024 Games.

In an astounding 50.37 seconds, McLaughlin-Levrone broke her own 400mH World Record, breaking it for the sixth time in the race. She also made history by becoming the first female to successfully defend an Olympic 400-meter hurdle championship.

In an interview, the American hurdler mentioned Sha’Carri Richardson and Gabby Thomas, two other female members of Team USA, as athletes she would love to share a bit of her crown with.
“Last night, my sister-in-law brought me a crown. She handed it to me after the race, as she had promised months before, but if I had to break it up and give it to other women on Team USA, this is who I would give it to. “I would definitely give a piece of that to Tara Davis, the Olympic long jump champion, and Gabby Thomas in the 200m,” McLaughlin-Levrone remarked.

“Sha’Carri, I understand there were some problems, but she still went out there and performed her duties. I adore seeing Elle St. Pierre race; she’s such a beast.”I could list so many of them, ugh. To be honest, I could name every single person. Jasmine Moore doubled in the triple and long jump events. There are just so many excellently depicted ladies,” she said.

The 25-year-old is thankful to have represented Team USA in three successive Olympics, beginning in Rio 2016 when she made her debut as a youngster, and hopes to encourage other young women to follow their aspirations.

“When I was a little child, I used to watch the Olympics and imagine myself here, having that moment of complete fulfillment. I want to encourage young ladies everywhere to pursue their dreams. Since every person’s journey is unique, I would advise a young lady starting out in athletics to honestly run her race without glancing left or right,” she said.
