Icon of 1970s rock swears never to talk to his “rude” bandmates again
Following a “very, very hurtful” confrontation eight years prior, Glenn Hughes, the former bassist and vocalist for the English rock band Deep Purple, blasted his former teammates. Hughes, now 78, joined the rock pioneers between 1973 and 1976. The band had a turbulent past filled with multiple breakups and a constantly changing lineup.
The musician got back together in 2016 with the members of the hit band Smoke on the Water, which included 78-year-old bassist Roger Glover, 75-year-old drummer Ian Paice, and vocalist Ian Gillan. Deep Purple’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame prompted a reunion, but it was by no means a happy occasion (Photo: Mairo Cinquetti/Pacific Press Via Zuma Wire/REX/Shutterstock).
