Rising Star Jaafar Jackson: Michael Jackson’s Nephew Set to Portray the King of Pop in Upcoming Biopic
Jaafar Jackson is stepping into his uncle’s iconic shoes as he prepares to portray Michael Jackson in the highly anticipated biopic, Michael. The 27-year-old actor, who bears a striking resemblance to the King of Pop, was recently spotted on set in Los Angeles, capturing the essence of his legendary uncle with remarkable accuracy.
Dressed in Michael Jackson’s classic attire—a white dress shirt, black tie, black pants, high white socks, and black shoes—Jaafar recreated the unmistakable style of the late pop star. His portrayal also included the signature curly black hair that Michael was known for. In another scene, Jaafar was seen alongside costar Nia Long, who will play Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson. The film also features Colman Domingo as Michael’s father, Joe Jackson.
The biopic, set for release on April 18, 2025, began filming in January and aims to provide a comprehensive look at Michael Jackson’s life. Producer Graham King praised Jaafar’s performance, noting, “With Jaafar, every look, every note, every dance move is Michael.” Director Antoine Fuqua echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that Jaafar embodies Michael’s spirit in a way that transcends physical resemblance.
Photographer Kevin Mazur, who captured the first-look images for the film, described the experience as a nostalgic journey back in time. “Seeing Jaafar perform, I thought, ‘Wow, it is Michael,’” Mazur said. His portrayal promises to offer audiences an in-depth look at the King of Pop’s triumphs and challenges, delivering a portrayal that highlights both his genius and the complexities of his life.
Fans can look forward to a powerful and authentic representation of Michael Jackson’s legendary career when Michael hits theaters in 2025.
