Wheelchair-accessible little ramps have been erected at London Bridge station.
The leftover space between the train and the platform, which frequently prevents people with disabilities from disembarking the service, is filled up by the ramps.
Transport for London (TfL) has installed tiny ramps at an additional 17 step-free Underground stations as part of their Equity in Motion promises to build a more inclusive and accessible transportation network.
This indicates that 58 stations are now using them.
Customers’ input that the step or gap on step-free to train stations prevents them from securely boarding and alighting from Tube trains led to the development of little ramps.
The new addition has been welcomed by London Assembly Member for Lambeth and Southwark, Marina Ahmad AM, who expressed gratitude to TfL for listening to riders around Southwark.
“I’m glad to see more equity for passenger service and the new tiny ramps at London Bridge Underground Station, which will make it easier for all Londoners to use our fantastic public transportation system.
“I hope that more stations in London will implement this. I will encourage TfL to create these ramps wherever they can because I want to see this beneficial development spread throughout our city.
