Portland 24 Hour Fitness gym shooting as two people shot with gunman on loose

Two people have reportedly been shot at popular gym in the US as dozens of police and ambulances are on the scene.

 

The reported shooting occurred at 24 Hour Fitness in the Hollywood District of Portland in Oregon today.

Police have since confirmed two people have been injured after local reports suggested at least three victims were treated at the scene.

Calls were made at 6:47am to emergency crews responded to a shooting at 4200 block of Northeast Halsey Street.

 

Police have since confirmed further information about the incident but stated the shooting took place outside the business.

A spokesperson for Portland Police told KATU 2 ABC: “Two people appear to be struck. It did not happen inside any business.”

Police also stated that no arrests have been made as a result of the shooting, meaning the gunman is still on the loose.

 

Portland Fire confirmed people are currently being treated for injuries at the scene.

 

It is currently unknown how serious the two victims but both have now been taken to hospital.

The fire service wrote on X: “Portland Fire is on scene of a shooting in the Hollywood District. Engine 28 and Engine 9 along with C4 on scene working by triaging and treating injuries on scene prior to transport of patient to the hospital.”

It has also been confirmed hat Northeast Halsey Street will be closed between Northeast 42nd Avenue and Northeast 43rd Avenue, as emergency crews continue to investigate the scene.
