After a nearly 20-year-long break from releasing albums, Jethro Tull reunited and began making music again several years ago. In addition to new studio albums, the rock group has also continued to score wins on the charts with re-releases, deluxe editions, live recordings, and more. It’s clear that the band still claims a sizable fan base in the U.S., as they have been racking up one bestseller after another for the past several years, including a new one in 2024.

Jethro Tull is back on the Top Album Sales chart this week. The rockers return to Billboard’s list of the bestselling full-lengths and EPs in the nation with Jethro Tull Live: Bursting Out, which launches at No. 33.

In the past tracking week, Luminate reports that Jethro Tull Live: Bursting Out sold just under 3,200 copies. That’s up significantly from the period before when the title barely sold anything–though that’s not surprising for a decades-old title.

Jethro Tull Live: Bursting Out sold just over single-digit copies in late June. In one seven-day period, the live recording’s sales grew by just under 29,000%, as interest in the title soared thanks to a special drop from the group.

The band recently re-released Jethro Tull Live: Bursting Out as a three-CD deluxe offering, which they named the Inflated Edition. The addition of remixed tracks, soundchecks, another live recording, and many other goodies helped the title explode in popularity.

Jethro Tull Live: Bursting Out was originally released in 1978 when the band was hugely popular. The set peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard 200, and it reaches the Top Album Sales chart for the first time this frame.
