The “Weekend Update” co-hosts scripted jokes for each other to deliver during the program, which aired on Saturday, May 18, without consulting each other beforehand. Since the end of SNL’s 49th season with this year’s skit, the segment has grown to be a fan favorite.

Following the custom, Che made Jost feel awkward by tricking him into making fun of his wife Scarlett Johansson. An anxious Jost announced to the audience, “ChatGPT has released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johansson’s AI character in Her.” “Which I’ve never bothered to watch, because what good is listening if that body isn’t there?”

The father of two instantly started laughing and covering his face with his hands in shame.

In another segment of “Weekend Update,” Jost challenged rapper Kendrick Lamar on his spat with Drake. “Talking about b**ches, I want to call up the biggest b**ch of all time, Kendrick Lamar,” proclaimed Che, swatting the cue cards with an emphatic “No!”

“Your conflict with Michael Che has just begun; your struggle with Drake may be over. Thus, in the words of Hamilton, “Shoot your shot, player,” he continued. After complimenting his “Weekend Update” co-host for the unexpected hit, the comedian said to Jost, “That was pretty well done, man.”

The joke quoted Creed member Scott Stapp as saying, “But the good news is Sammy Davis Jr will be played by Scarlett Johansson,” in reference to his role as Frank Sinatra in a Ronald Reagan movie.

The Black Widow actress faced criticism for her portrayal of a Japanese character in the live-action Ghost in the Shell film released in 2017. Additionally, she withdrew from the movie Rub and Tug due to negative feedback she received after being cast as a transgender male mobster.

When Jason Sudeikis played the devil in a 2021 “Weekend Update” piece, he also made fun of Jost’s marriage to Johansson.

“Oh, man, so many little side projects,” was Sudeikis’ devil response to the host’s question about his recent work. We’re attempting to get Instagram for kids off the ground, but we also have earthquakes and some really bad storms. Whoa! as well as the weather.
