On August 17, 2024, the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, unveiled a statue of Archie Griffin, commemorating the 50th anniversary of his first Heisman Trophy win. The statue is situated near Tunnel 28, adjacent to the new Legends Walk, which honors the 19 Heisman Trophy winners who have played in the Rose Bowl Game .
Subsequently, on August 30, 2024, an identical statue was unveiled at Ohio Stadium’s Rotunda in Columbus, Ohio. This dedication was part of Ohio State University’s celebration of Griffin’s enduring impact on the Buckeyes football program .
Celebrating a Historic Career
Archie Griffin remains the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner in college football history, securing the award in 1974 and 1975. During his tenure at Ohio State, he led the Buckeyes to a 40-5-1 record, four Big Ten championships, and four consecutive Rose Bowl appearances. Griffin still holds the Ohio State record for career rushing yards, amassing 5,589 yards during his collegiate career .

Ohio State Announces Exciting Jeremiah Smith News on Tuesday
The college football season is still several months away, but the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes have been back on the field for spring practice, and the anticipation for their attempt to repeat is palpable in Columbus.
Ohio State will have some new faces at key positions, especially at quarterback, with former five-star transfer from Alabama, Julian Sayin, being the likely favorite to land the job after Will Howard was selected in the NFL draft.
However, they may be returning the best offensive player in the nation in wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and the best defensive player in Caleb Downs.
Smith, in particular, is a generational talent heading into just his sophomore season, with immense expectations after his standout performance during his freshman year in the College Football Playoff on the biggest stage.
He was simply too much for just about every secondary he faced, and on Tuesday, the Buckeyes announced that Smith is the highest-rated wide receiver, according to Pro Football Focus, in all of college football heading into the 2025 season with an 89.4 grade.
“Highest Graded Returning WR per @PFF_College… None other than @Jermiah_Smith1,” Ohio State posted.

Smith hauled in 76 receptions last year for 1,315 yards, an impressive 15 touchdowns, and averaged 17.3 yards per reception. He caught five touchdowns in the College Football Playoff, including two against both Tennessee and Oregon in the first two rounds.
He went for over 100 yards in each game and has all the makings of the next great wide receiver to emerge from the Buckeyes program, which has become a yearly occurrence in Columbus.
