Deep Purple Hints at Possible 2025 Reunion Tour
In a thrilling development for classic rock fans around the globe, legendary band Deep Purple has sparked speculation about a possible 2025 reunion tour. Although no official confirmation has been made, recent statements and events have led many to believe that a partial reunion featuring past and present members may be on the horizon.
The catalyst for the buzz came from drummer Ian Paice, the only remaining founding member still in the band, who recently opened up about Deep Purple’s plans for 2025 and beyond. Paice mentioned that the band is preparing a new studio album and an accompanying world tour set to span through 2026. While his comments focused on the current lineup’s future, the mere mention of a global tour has ignited widespread anticipation. Many long-time fans have interpreted this as a window of opportunity for a reunion involving former members who played pivotal roles in shaping the band’s legacy.
Adding to the speculation, former bassist and vocalist Glenn Hughes has announced a solo tour in September 2025, during which he will perform classic Deep Purple material. This special run of shows is designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1974 album Burn, a landmark release from the Mark III lineup that featured Hughes alongside David Coverdale, Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord, and Ian Paice. Hughes’ decision to revisit this era has rekindled fans’ hopes that he could make a guest appearance during Deep Purple’s own tour, or perhaps even join for select reunion dates.
The idea of a reunion is especially meaningful to longtime followers of the band, many of whom have witnessed several distinct eras of Deep Purple, each with its own identity. From the explosive hard rock sound of the Mark II lineup—featuring Ian Gillan and Ritchie Blackmore—to the funk-infused experimentation of Mark III and Mark IV, Deep Purple’s legacy has been built on evolution and reinvention.
Although the band has remained active with a strong touring schedule and recent albums like Whoosh! (2020) and Turning to Crime (2021), a full or partial reunion has never materialized in recent years, despite frequent calls from fans and the media. In fact, the last time a former member rejoined Deep Purple on stage was decades ago, and the prospects of such collaborations have often been downplayed by the current lineup. However, the current environment—marked by milestone anniversaries and renewed interest—has created the most promising backdrop in years for such an event.
While no formal statement has been made by the band or management regarding a reunion, the combined factors of a new studio release, a full-scale international tour, and Glenn Hughes’ return to Purple classics all seem to suggest that the stars may finally be aligning.
Whether or not Deep Purple intends to bring back iconic figures like Hughes, David Coverdale, or even Ritchie Blackmore remains uncertain. Still, the excitement among fans is unmistakable, and the possibility alone is enough to stir anticipation as the band approaches what could be a monumental year in its storied career.

Deep Purple gives final verdict on possibility of Band’s 2025 Reunion Tour as SIMON McBRIDE Releases New Album
Simon McBride, one of the most celebrated guitarists to emerge in recent years, releases his new album today.
‘Recordings: 2020–2025’ brings together a selection of carefully chosen covers and original songs, recorded during a pivotal period in his life. As McBride reflects, “all the recordings in this collection go back to the period right before I became Deep Purple’s guitar player which, even now, still feels a bit surreal to say.”
“We are just products of our influences”, says McBride when asked about how he developed his unique guitar style – and this idea is reflected in his choice of songs. Alongside his own compositions, he reimagines classics by The Cure, The Kinks, Bryan Adams, Duran Duran, Bill Withers, Free, and others in his own distinctive sound.
Unlike today’s computer-polished productions that rely heavily on editing, McBride and his three-piece band recorded his original songs in a single take, capturing the chemistry and pure joy of playing together – qualities that define great rock music. This approach, which focuses on raw and spontaneous performance, has become increasingly rare in the modern recording industry.
For Deep Purple fans, ‘Recordings: 2020–2025’ offers a new perspective. For everyone else, it’s a raw, unfiltered introduction to Simon McBride’s remarkable guitar playing and songwriting.
