US metal band Megadeth to perform in Istanbul in September
ISTANBUL – American metal legends Megadeth, widely recognized as pioneers of the thrash metal movement, are set to return to Türkiye with a highly anticipated concert at KüçükÇiftlik Park in Istanbul on September 22.
Following the massive success of their previous show in Türkiye last June—where tickets sold out in just 15 minutes—Megadeth is making Istanbul their sole stop in Europe for their 2025 tour, outside of joint performances with fellow American heavy metal band Disturbed.
The band’s current lineup features drummer Dirk Verbeuren, bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, and founding member Dave Mustaine on guitar and vocals. Fans in Türkiye will be among the first to hear live performances of tracks from Megadeth’s brand-new album.
Formed by Dave Mustaine after his departure from Metallica, Megadeth burst onto the scene with their groundbreaking 1985 debut album Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good!. Mustaine’s guitar prowess earned him the top spot on Guitar World’s “Top 100 Metal Guitarists” list in 2009. Over the years, he has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, winning Best Metal Performance in 2016 for the song Dystopia.
With a discography of 16 studio albums and global album sales exceeding 50 million, Megadeth remains a defining force in heavy metal. Their Istanbul performance promises to be a memorable night for Turkish fans, delivering both classic anthems and fresh new material from their latest release.
