Regarding Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams sends a clear message to the Las Vegas Raiders

Davante Adams stressed the importance of having Josh Jacobs on their roster, stating that the team can not afford to lose the running back due to contractual disputes.

Davante Adams will have a much different role in the Las Vegas Raiders' new offensive system

Wide receiver Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders sent a strong message to the team regarding running back Josh Jacobs. Adams feels that in order for the team to win a Super Bowl, Jacobs will be essential to their offense going forward. Players who were franchise-tagged had until last Monday to finalize a multi-year contract, so there is uncertainty regarding the availability of the Raiders star running back for the 2023 season. As the team’s leading rusher from the previous season, Jacobs has not finalized his tag agreement, which could result in him holding out of training camp or even the start of the season until his situation is rectified.

Raiders running back Josh Jacobs could miss preseason on contract issues

Adams sympathized with his teammate’s difficult circumstances during his speech on NFL Total Access. Considering how important Jacobs is to the Las Vegas offense’s success, he stated his optimism for a speedy conclusion.

“If we want to have a shot at winning the Super Bowl and having all the elite aspirations that we do, we’re gonna need that guy,” he explained. “So I’m praying that we can still figure something out, but also understanding where Josh is coming from and trying to coach him through it at the same time.”

Adams disclosed that, despite his own expertise resolving substantial contract disputes similar to Jacobs’ circumstances, he has been offering direction and help to his colleagues throughout this intricate procedure.Packers' Josh Jacobs flips over during dirt bike stream, leaves fanbase concerned over injuries

“We’ve been conversing. We’ve been talking to him a lot lately, guiding him through this process,” Adams remarked. “I’ve been through it a couple of times myself, and I know what it’s like to go back and forth about whether or not you feel appreciated.”

Adams is qualified to understand the mixed feelings that surface when a player and their team negotiate the financial aspects of the sport after spending eight years with the Green Bay Packers. Adams stated that he would not play with the franchise tag after Green Bay applied it to him during the previous offseason.

Adams was traded to Las Vegas as it became unable to come to an agreement on a new contract, where he eventually signed a long-term one. On July 24, the Raiders will start their official offseason training camp.

A lot of attention was paid to Jimmy Garoppolo’s surgically healed foot condition during the team’s summer. As previously reported by NFL Network Insiders, Garoppolo might be prepared for training camp, though it’s unclear how much of an early participant he will be.

Because Las Vegas thought Garoppolo would fit Josh McDaniels’ offensive scheme better than Derek Carr, they effectively traded Carr for him. The workload for backup running backs Brandon Bolden, Ameer Abdullah, and Zamir White is anticipated to rise dramatically due to Jacobs’ impending absence.

In the Raiders’ running game, they will probably assume greater responsibility and support the offense while Jacobs is out.
