Wilt Chamberlain Docuseries ‘Goliath’ Sets Showtime Premiere Date for March 2026
In a major announcement for sports and documentary enthusiasts alike, Showtime has officially confirmed that its highly acclaimed docuseries “Goliath,” based on the legendary life and career of Wilt Chamberlain, will premiere in March 2026. The three-part series promises to offer an unprecedented look into one of basketball’s most enigmatic and dominant figures — a man whose name remains synonymous with greatness, mystery, and cultural influence.
Produced by Village Roadshow Television, Content Cartel, Happy Madison Productions, Heeltap!, and the estate of Wilt Chamberlain, the series will explore Chamberlain’s extraordinary journey from a Philadelphia schoolboy prodigy to an NBA titan who shattered records and redefined the limits of athletic performance. “Goliath” dives beyond the numbers — like his 100-point game and multiple rebounding titles — to explore the man behind the myth, revealing his complex personality, social awareness, and lifelong struggle for respect both on and off the court.

Each episode of “Goliath” will tackle a different phase of Chamberlain’s evolution. The first episode focuses on his early years in Philadelphia and his rise through the Kansas Jayhawks program under coach Phog Allen. The second episode explores his NBA dominance with the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Los Angeles Lakers, where he redefined the center position and set records that still stand today. The final episode examines Wilt’s post-basketball life — his ventures into business, acting, authorship, and activism — as well as the controversies that followed him, from his outspoken personality to his reflections on fame, race, and masculinity in America.
The docuseries also features interviews with NBA legends, historians, and cultural commentators who provide insight into Wilt’s enduring legacy. Voices such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell’s family, Julius Erving, and modern stars inspired by Wilt’s impact discuss how he reshaped the sport’s physical and psychological landscape.
Set to debut on Showtime and Paramount+ in March 2026, “Goliath” aims to reach a new generation of viewers who may know Chamberlain only through his mythic stats — 30,000-plus career points, 23,000 rebounds, and the fabled 100-point game — but not the man who lived behind those numbers.
As sports documentaries continue to dominate streaming platforms, “Goliath” is expected to stand alongside recent hits like The Last Dance and They Call Me Magic, offering an introspective, artfully told, and emotionally powerful look at a man who was as complex as he was colossal.
“Wilt Chamberlain wasn’t just a Goliath in basketball,” the series producers noted. “He was a Goliath in life — a man ahead of his time, who continues to shape the conversation about greatness, identity, and legacy.”
