Who is Kirk Cousins’ wife? How Atlanta Falcons quarterback met partner
Kirk Cousins’ partner has been by his side throughout his NFL career over the past 13 years in the league.
Kirk Cousins is now in his 13th season in the NFL – currently serving as a backup quarterback for the first time since 2014, when he played for the Washington Redskins.
Now with the Atlanta Falcons, Cousins finds himself on the QB depth chart behind Michael Penix Jr. – who the team surprisingly drafted in the first round after giving the veteran quarterback a four-year, $160 million deal last year.
Cousins moved to Atlanta after leaving the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent, returning to his wife Julie Hampton’s home state, where the two married.
Cousins met his new wife, Julie, after he was drafted into the league in 2012 as a fourth-round pick.
His selection was surprising at the time, coming after Washington had spent the second overall pick on a quarterback in Robert Griffin III.
During his rookie season, Kirk and Julie would spend time together as their relationship blossomed – getting engaged the following year and marrying in Roswell, Georgia in 2014.
They initially met through a family friend, with Cousins popping the question after just 18 months of dating.
Explaining how he had proposed, he told the Washington Post: “On the way down driving the car, as we got close to the Capitol building I was holding her hand and she goes, ‘Why are your hands cold and sweaty?’ I said, ‘I don’t know,’ but I knew it was because I was super nervous.
“I just mentioned the view, and told her how we’d gotten to know each other in this city and how we had good memories when we used to walk through the city on some of our earlier dates. I went down on a knee before it got too sappy, before it got too awkward. I don’t remember exactly what she said, but she said yes. That’s all I needed to hear.”
Julie has been a regular attendee at Kirk’s games over the last few years even as he joined the Vikings in 2018, where he remained for seven years.
Cousins opted to move to the Falcons in 2024, in a move which was documented on Netflix’ ‘Quarterback’ series this year.
The two are parents to two sons, Cooper and Turner, born in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
