Centre-half Tim Köhler (20) leaves RB Leipzig and joins up with VfB Stuttgart’s U21 side. The Leipzig-born defender rose through the ranks of RB Leipzig’s youth teams after joining in summer 2014. For the first-team, the 20-year-old appeared in several Bundesliga matchday squads, as well as a DFB-Pokal squad and a UEFA Champions League squad.

The 1.91m-tall defender spent last season gaining valuable experience in the 3. Liga with SC Verl, playing 26 times for the team from East-Westphalia and scoring two goals in the Westphalia regional cup competition. As VfB have already begun their third-division campaign, the defender will jump straight into action.
Marcel Schäfer, managing director for sport:
“Tim was a part of RB Leipzig for over ten years and developed greatly during that time. He is another example of how we are able to guide talented players from the local area into a career in professional football. We thank Tim for the time he spent with us and wish him the best of luck for his next chapter in Stuttgart.”
