
A crash has blocked a major South Yorkshire road in both directions.
The A630 Centenary Way in Rotherham was originally blocked heading both north and south following a crash between the A6178 Sheffield Road at Ickles Roundabout and the A631 West Bawtry Road at the Canklow roundabout.
The south side of the carriageway is still shut, while the north has reopened. It happened just before 3pm today (Wednesday, June 11).
According to Traffic management system Inrix, there is a Diversion via the KFC roundabout. The data site reports: “A630 Centenary Way Southbound blocked, queueing traffic due to accident between A6178 Sheffield Road (Ickles Roundabout) and A631 West Bawtry Road (Canklow roundabout).”
Traffic is beginning to ease
Traffic management system Inrix has reported that the traffic on the A630 Centenary Way Southbound is easing after an accident was reported at 3pm today (Wednesday, June 11).
Traffic appears to still be still be moving slowly, but is easing as both carriageways have re-opened.
Inrix reported: “Earlier accident on A630 Centenary Way Southbound between A6178 Sheffield Road (Ickles Roundabout) and A631 West Bawtry Road (Canklow roundabout).”
Sensors show that both carriageways have re-opened, however trapped traffic is slow to clear.
It is not known if anyone is injured or how long it will take for the scene to be cleared. We have contacted South Yorkshire Police for information.
