Doing so meant using a “rhythm I wouldn’t normally use,” with the veteran frontman sharing it made a big difference to the song. The track, which featured on ELO’s most recent album release, From Out of Nowhere, is the “oldest song on the album” and took two decades for Lynne to complete. Though he was not working on it constantly, it does mark one of the songs Lynne brought out of his archives to add to the 2019 album. In a track-by-track breakdown of From Out of Nowhere, Lynne confirmed it was the one song on the album which he thinks he should have released long before the album project came to light.

In an interview with Louder Sound held back in 2019, Lynne shared his thoughts on All My Love, a song which features on From Out of Nowhere. Despite it being a song Lynne had wanted to finish off for years, it has been performed live only once.

Lights out: ELO announce final concert at Hyde Park

Whether the song is featured in the final ELO shows, set to start next month, is yet to be seen. Lynne did promise a few surprises for those attending the final ELO dates, which will take place in Birmingham, Manchester, and London, through July. Hyde Park on July 14 marks the final performance of Lynne and the band.

But it is not a farewell to music entirely for Lynne, who shared his plans to continue working in the studio. Whether he means as a producer or as part of ELO has not been confirmed.

Lynne has previously confirmed he has “a few hundred tapes” worth of possible material to sift through, and there may be some hidden gems to be found in his archives.

He said: “I’ve got a box of a few hundred tapes that I’ve not had a chance to listen to for years and years – probably for twenty years or so – but I’m planning to actually listen to them, and see what the hell’s on there. There might be some great songs that I’ve forgotten, and there might be some horrible ones on that I wish I’d forgotten!”

Lynne went on to share his thoughts on All My Love, a song which appears to have made its way out of the box of tapes. He told Louder Sound: “All My Love is is probably the oldest song on the album. It’s about 20 years old. I dug the tape out of the cupboard, and I thought, ‘I remember this! I should have done this one before!’

“I really like it now. It’s got a rhythm that I wouldn’t normally use. It’s got more of a Latin beat to it, which changes the whole feel of the track.”
