
Naomi Osaka provides fitness update as French Open nears and confirms what her relationship with her coach is like
Naomi Osaka shared a fitness update as she prepares to commence her clay court season.
The Japanese star has not played since her round of 16 defeat to Jasmine Paolini at the Miami Open in March.
The 27-year-old has been at work preparing for what has traditionally been the weakest portion of her season.
Now Osaka is ready to return to action at the Madrid Open and aim to have the most successful clay court season of her career.

Naomi Osaka has endured somewhat of a frustrating 2025 season so far.
The four-time Grand Slam champion began her season by reaching the ASB classic final, before retiring after the first set due to injury.
For the second successive tournament Osaka was unable to continue due to injury, as she retired against Belinda Bencic at the Australian Open.
Osaka then played at Indian Wells and Miami, and she made the fourth round in Florida following an opening round exit in the California desert.
But after nearly a month without playing and having more time to train for the clay, Osaka feels fit and is raring to start competing again.
“Yes, physically everything is fine,” Osaka told Tennis Majors. “I’m really excited about it because I feel stronger and I feel like I’m able to play really long matches.”

Osaka shocked the tennis world when she hired Patrick Mouratoglou to be her coach in 2024.
She parted ways with Wim Fisette, who is now coaching Iga Swiatek, the five-time Grand Slam champion and World number two.Osaka, who initially said she was not sure what to expect from Mouratoglou, has developed a solid relationship with him and he has helped instill more confidence and belief in herself.
“I think he brings me a lot of confidence.” the former World number one added.
“I’m someone who can be very shy and insecure, even if this one is a very tough word. It’s just that sometimes I downplay myself a lot.
“He’s a person who I would say builds me up and also makes me feel very certain about the things that he’s telling me so there’s no doubt. I think for me, it’s very necessary.”
