Mizzou Lands Star Guard From Transfer Portal

It seems the Missouri Tigers and head coach Dennis Gates have been busy on the recruiting trail early in April. After it was announced that center Luke Northweather would transfer to Mizzou on Sunday, the Tigers made another addition from the portal.

Junior guard Sebastian Mack committed to Missouri on Monday morning, Joe Tipton of On3 and Tobias Bass of The Athletic reported. The sophomore standing at 6-foot-3 averaged 9.6 points and 1.7 assists last season across 20.9 minutes per game for the UCLA Bruins.

Mack brings a energetic presence to a Tigers team that needed a jolt off the bench at times last season. Bruins head coach Mick Cronin called on Mack often to help get his team going when they needed it most.

247Sports had Mack ranked a 4-star prospect and 66th in the nation in the Class of 2023. The guard played his high school ball at Coronado High School in Henderson, Nevada, just outside of Las Vegas. He was also named Nevada Class 5A Player of the Year his senior season.

Mack received praise for his ability to show up for the Bruins when they needed it most. The Los Angeles Times called him a “Cold-Blooded Closer” in a piece about him released in January. He hit a 30-foot dagger for the Bruins in their win over rival USC and told reporters postgame that it was his “sweet spot.”

Mack will join Anthony Robinson II, T.O. Barrett, Annor Boateng, Jacob Crews and Mark Mitchell as guards on Mizzou’s roster for next season.

With the move, Missouri has two remaining open scholarship spots left for Dennis Gates to fill.
