
Juraj Slafkovský, the 20-year-old Slovakian forward and first overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, has solidified his future with the Montreal Canadiens by signing an eight-year, $60.8 million contract extension. The deal, which commences in the 2025-26 season, carries an average annual value of $7.6 million.
In the 2023-24 season, Slafkovský showcased his burgeoning talent by recording 50 points, including 20 goals and 30 assists, over 82 games. His performance placed him third on the team in goals and hits (152), fourth in assists and points, and first among forwards with 71 blocked shots.
Notably, he became the first player in Canadiens history to accumulate 40 points in a season before turning 20, achieving this milestone with an assist against the Colorado Avalanche on March 26, 2024.
Following the NHL season, Slafkovský represented Slovakia at the 2024 IIHF World Championship, where he continued to impress by tallying eight assists in eight games.
Expressing his commitment to the Canadiens, Slafkovský stated, “I love Montreal and I feel like we are on a good path and I feel like we’re building something very special and I just wanted to be part of it as long as I can.”
As of now, there have been no public announcements regarding Juraj Slafkovský’s engagement. The focus remains on his professional achievements and his promising future with the Montreal Canadiens.
