Former Penn State quarterback emerges as potential trade candidate for Pittsburgh Steelers QB
In the quarterback carousel, it appears another name has entered the vortex for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Josina Anderson of CBS Sports says the Tennessee Titans have made overtures to try and move on from quarterback Will Levis.
Levis struggled mightily in his first full season as a starter. He dealt with an AC Joint sprain in his shoulder, and Mason Rudolph played over him at times. In 12 starts, Levis went 2-10, throwing for 2091 yards with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
“I was just told these two quarterback names came up in recent preliminary* trade inquiries or internal discussions, per a league source: Kirk Cousins and Will Levis,” Anderson reported. “The Titans would like to transition.”
Levis is not the current regime’s quarterback, which always adds another layer to these discussions. It seems likely that even if Levis is not traded, the Titans could select Miami quarterback Cam Ward, ousting Levis from the starting quarterback job.
For the Steelers, there are narrow paths for quarterback options. Levis is what he is, a gunslinger with a high variance from week to week. Pittsburgh is in on Aaron Rodgers first, but Levis could join the second wave of interest.
