South Carolina’s Shane Beamer Signs Lucrative Contract Extension
South Carolina Gamecocks head football coach Shane Beamer signed a lucrative contract extension that will keep him in Columbia through the 2030 season.
The deal, which will pay Beamer $8.15 million next season and will escalate by $100,000 each season through the life of the contract, was approved by the school’s board of trustees on Friday morning.
“The culture and commitment to excellence that Coach Beamer has built in our football program shows that we are headed in the right direction and on a strong upward trajectory,” athletic director Jeremiah Donati said. “Coach Beamer has made clear his desire to be at the University of South Carolina and this extension shows our collective support for him as the leader of our football program.”
Donati, who took over as the school’s athletic director earlier this month, wasted no time getting an extension completed with Beamer, who has steadily rebuilt the Gamecocks into a competitive program in the SEC once again.
South Carolina went 9-4 this season for Beamer’s best finish in his four years with the Gamecocks. He’s gone 29-22 in four seasons, three of which ended with a winning record and bowl berth.
The Gamecocks are primed to be ranked to start the 2025 season with the return of quarterback LaNorris Sellers under center.

South Carolina did not make the College Football Playoff, but the Gamecocks finished the regular season 9-3 and earned coveted “Team no one would want to play in an even larger Playoff” status, which is pretty good in its own right. A win over No. 20 Illinois in the Citrus Bowl gives the 14th-ranked Gamecocks 10 victories for the first time since 2013.
Long story short: It was a good season for South Carolina, and now Shane Beamer’s staff is reaping the benefits.
As reported by Gamecock Scoop (no relation) on Tuesday, South Carolina’s Board of Trustees approved a 3-year contract for offensive coordinator Mike Shula and across-the-board raises and extensions for the nine remaining assistants.
Every South Carolina assistant is now under contract through at least the 2026 season, and all 10 now earn north of half a million dollars per year.
Shula’s 3-year deal starts at $1.1 million per year, while defensive coordinator Clayton White netted a 3-year extension that boosted his salary to $1.9 million. He is now under contract through 2028, and will make $2 million in 2025 and $2.1 million from 2026-28.
While White got the biggest raise in real dollars, offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley netted the biggest relative raise. His salary boosted by 65 percent, from $410,000 to $675,000, while five more position coaches earned raises ranging from “big” to “massive.”
All told, South Carolina will pay Beamer’s staff 31 percent more in 2025 than it did in 2024.
