Titans GM Mike Borgonzi has final say on 2025 NFL Draft selections

Tennessee Titans names Mike Borgonzi as new general manager

Chad Brinker, Titans president of football operations, introduced Mike Borgonzi, former Kansas City Chiefs executive, as the new general manager.

Tennessee Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker made it clear, General Manager Mike Borgonzi will be making the Titans picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Brinker addressed media at a press conference on Wednesday morning, eliminating any doubt over who has final say regarding the Titans selection with the No. 1 pick.

“Mike will make the picks. I mean that’s the primary football executive,” Brinker said. “When you read the definition of it, the primary authority on personnel decisions, we’re hiring Mike to do that job. Will he have me involved? … Yes, I’ll be involved. But Mike is the primary on that. That’s what he’s going to wake up every day and do.”

That contradicted what Titans CEO Burke Nihill said after the firing of former GM Ran Carton that “Chad (Brinker) will be the final authority on all football matters, including the roster.”

Borgonzi was hired by the Titans last week after 16 years with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he most recently served as Assistant General Manager, replacing Ran Carthon after his dismissal following the season.

Brinker also addressed the hierarchy within the Titans front office, stating it was a non-issue during the interview process for a new General Manager. He added that while he’ll support Borgonzi throughout the process, he doesn’t plan on dictating the Titans’ selections in the 2025 NFL Draft.

“We’re going to put the 53 together at the end, with the head coach too,” Brinker said. “I guess maybe you just got to know me … I’m trying to hire the best General Manager that I can possibly find to build this roster and I want to build it with them, while supporting around them. We’re all held accountable for this, me included.”
