This Sentell’s Intel rep on Georgia football recruiting breaks down the expected group of visitors from the first winter “Junior Day” weekend in Athens.
That’s been the drill this week around Georgia high school football.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart got in the chopper this week to scoot all around the South and the Peach State, in particular.
“Nice seeing you again so soon” will be a popular line around the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall over the weekend. Georgia is set to host the first of two big “Junior Day” unofficial visit recruiting weekends for the Class of 2026.
There’s one this weekend that will allow many to watch the big basketball game against No. 1 Auburn and soak up all things Georgia football related to that event.
Georgia will host a second “Junior Day” event on February 1. That is expected to actually have a higher number of 5-stars than the one this weekend.
That’s according to those who have told DawgNation that they plan to attend. Those visits, as always are subject to change.
That said, there’s probably not going to be one single visitor on either weekend than 5-star Grayson High LB Tyler Atkinson. DawgNation considers Atkinson to be the best LB prospect from the state of Georgia since the great Roquan Smith.
Smart dropped the “KirbyCopter” down at Grayson High on Friday morning to see Atkinson.
