Georgia football losing QB Carson Beck to Miami deemed potentially ‘best for both sides’

Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart and his Bulldogs locker room were growing impatient behind the scenes with Carson Beck. Meanwhile, several QBs, including SEC Championship Game-winning fill-in Gunner Stockton, were waiting for two years and may not have been willing to wait for the QB1 role another if Beck came back.

Ipso facto, The Athens Banner-Herald’s Marc Weiszer gave Beck’s transfer portal departure to Miami a subheading titled “Move may be best for both sides.”

“If Beck returned to Georgia, keeping Gunner Stockton and Ryan Puglisi around another year may have been dicey in a quarterback room that just lost Jaden Rashada,” Weiszer wrote.

Beyond being a short drive from the shores of southeastern Florida, Beck also gets several great perks – from an on-field perspective and for his personal life.

“Miami offers Beck a starting role with a program that should be a playoff contender again having already went through this with Cam Ward,” Weiszer wrote.

“Beck also joins girlfriend Hanna Cavinder at Miami. The Hurricanes’ basketball player is a social media infleuncer.”

The U offers Beck a chance to escape Mike Bobo and join an established veteran who just molded a Heisman candidate (Cam Ward) in Hurricanes offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson.

Meanwhile, Georgia gets to carry the goodwill of Stockton’s laudable College Football Playoff performance and conference championship clincher into the 2025 season. Or even explore an upgrade like Quinn Ewers.

Everybody can be winning in this scenario.

The Hurricanes and the Bulldogs would make for a cinematic CFP matchup. The drama already exists before any hypothetical kickoff.
