Two of the biggest questions surround the future head coach and QB, as Dennis Allen was fired earlier in the year and Derek Carr — who is sidelined the remainder of the season due to injury — isn’t certain to be the starter under the new regime.

Some believed 2024 5th-round pick Spencer Rattler could be the future franchise QB, but the former South Carolina signal caller struggled in his first NFL start. While he still has plenty of potential, he now only has two games to showcase his talent for the next coaching staff.

With so many questions about the future of the Saints, ESPN insider Adam Schefter joined the MNF Countdown pregame show and was asked about the current search for the team’s next coach.

“The Saints plan to start their coaching search at at the end of this season,” Schefter said. “One of the candidates expected will be the Lions’ defensive coordinator, Aaron Glenn, who has coached in New Orleans, has familiarity with the organization and is someone the organization knows well.”

Schefter then mentioned former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel as a potential option for the vacancy.

“I also expect the organization has some level of interest in former Titans coach Mike Vrabel, and of course, there will be other needs if Vrabel takes over as the head coach in New Orleans.”

Schefter alluded to the future Saints head coach inheriting a tough situation when it comes to the quarterback.

“Whoever takes over as the coach in New Orleans will have a major decision at quarterback,” Schefter said. “Right now Derek Carr is expected to be the QB because of the team’s cap situation.”
