South Carolina Gamecocks to be featured in new Netflix football documentary series

Gamecocks fans will have a chance to relive the magical 2024 season thanks to Netflix teaming up with the Southeastern Conference for an inside look at 10 teams in one of the best leagues in college football.

First reported by The Athletic, South Carolina will be one of ten teams featured in a new documentary series that follows each team throughout the season set to come out in 2025. The other teams include Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, according to The Athletic’s reporting.

Gamecock football coach Shane Beamer said he looks forward to seeing the upcoming documentary.

“Our 2024 season was special in many ways,” Beamer said. “I look forward to seeing our program featured in this new documentary when it comes out in Summer 2025.”

Netflix, in a press release announcing the decision, explained the new series is produced by Box-To-Box Films, the production company that created Sprint, Full Swing, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, and Break Point.

“This behind-the-scenes docuseries will bring all the drama and pageantry of Southeastern Conference Football to a worldwide Netflix audience,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey told Netflix.

Justin King, the senior associated athletic director for football creative and branding at the University of South Carolina, posted on social media that he uploaded eight terabytes of footage onto a drive for Netflix to use in the new series.

“They’ve been amazing to work with and the stuff I’ve seen that they have shot has been incredible,” King wrote on social media. “I can’t wait for that A&M episode myself.”

The series will feature eight 45-minute episodes. The Athletic first reported on the coming documentary series in early June.
