Drue Tranquill’s message to Raiders after their attack on Patrick Mahomes with Kermit the Frog is epic
The rivalry between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders took a cheeky turn this season, starting back in July when several Raiders players mocked Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
They used a Kermit the Frog puppet – a playful jab at Mahomes’ distinct voice – outfitted in a Mahomes jersey, complete with curly hair.
While Mahomes responded calmly at the time, saying, “Stuff like that happens. It’ll get handled when it gets handled,” it seems the Chiefs have had the perfect opportunity to answer back.
On Sunday, Kansas City kept their undefeated streak alive, defeating the Raiders 27-20 at Allegiant Stadium.
While Mahomes let his on-field performance speak for itself, linebacker Drue Tranquill made sure to deliver a post-game message that trolled Las Vegas right back.
Following the game, Tranquill took to Instagram to share a few photos, captioned, “Kermit & the boys vibin’ out in Arrowhead West.”
His caption was a not-so-subtle jab at the Raiders, referencing both the Kermit puppet mockery from earlier in the season and the fact that Kansas City has owned Allegiant Stadium in recent years.
The Chiefs have now won all five of their games at the Raiders‘ home field, earning the nickname “Arrowhead West” due to their dominance there.
Tranquill‘s post added more spice to a heated rivalry, reminding everyone that the Chiefs continue to reign supreme over their AFC West rivals.
Kansas City’s recent victory extends their winning streak against the Raiders to seven games, and the social media jab just added another layer to the growing tension between the two teams.
Mahomes lets his performance speak for itself
Though Patrick Mahomes was the target of the Raiders’ summer jokes, he stayed focused during Sunday’s game, throwing for 262 yards and two touchdowns against a highly-ranked Raiders defense.
His performance led the Chiefs to yet another victory over Las Vegas, and while Mahomes didn’t fire back publicly, his leadership on the field said it all.
The Chiefs will face the Raiders again on November 29th at Arrowhead Stadium in the much-anticipated Black Friday game on Amazon Prime Video.
With both teams now exchanging more than just on-field blows, the next showdown promises to bring even more intensity – and maybe a few more lighthearted digs.
