Collingwood make decision on key forward after medical result

Likely new Collingwood recruit Tim Membrey has passed his medical and is expected to imminently sign at the Magpies for the 2025 season.

The uncontracted St Kilda player will be axed in the coming days and then acquired by Collingwood as a delisted free agent, reports Mitch Cleary.

Membrey, 30, was offered a one-year contract by the Saints for 2025 but was told he was free to explore the market and seek a longer-team deal with another club.

After Nathan Krueger was among the club’s delistings, Collingwood only have Brody Mihocek and Daniel McStay as senior key forward options.AFL 2020: St Kilda's brutal review after Fremantle loss, Tim Membrey | Herald Sun

With Mihocek hitting 32 years of age prior to the 2025 season and McStay coming off a ACL knee reconstruction, it’s clear the Magpies are short in this area.

Enter Membrey, who kicked 30 goals for the Saints in 2024 – the seventh time he has hit that number in a season.

It did look like the 188cm forward was struggling to compete at AFL level through the mid-part of the 2024 season, being dropped to the VFL for three matches.

But the veteran returned to form in the latter half of the campaign, kicking 14 goals in the final six matches.
