Andrew Mackie List Management Update
GM of Football Andrew Mackie gives us a list management update after the conclusion of the trade period. Presented by Pepperstone.
Geelong General Manager of Football, Andrew Mackie provided an update on what the next month looks like for the Club, with the potential for the Cats to move around picks if necessary.
“Our recruiters do a power of work and it is peak season for them now, the guys are covering off a lot of interviews,” Mackie told Cats Media.
Another exciting move that the Cats will execute is set to come at the start of November, with the Club committed to adding Jack Martin to the list ahead of the 2025 season.
Martin has played 151 AFL games across 11 seasons at the top level, spending time at both Carlton and Gold Coast across that span.
Mackie said the Geelong Football Club is excited to secure the services of Martin, prepared to leave no stone unturned to help him play his best football.
“We are lucky that we have a really good team that lead that for us, so we are looking forward to that information coming back and where they see the selections.
“There is windows for us to pick trade as well, so we will look at all sorts of different ways. Potentially we might move some future picks in to this year, we are open minded to what that looks like.
“That will be guided by Stephen Wells and his team, seeing the draft board forming and we will work through what that looks like over the next month.”
“Jack has been around for a while now and he has some experience, we are excited to get him down here,” Mackie said.
“He is looking to settle in already, he has got a house and a young family.
“We feel like we are a really good spot for him and we are really excited about what that can be, clearly the on field stuff for Jack hasn’t gone the way he would have liked the last couple of years.
“The work from here is just put all our team around him and like we do with every player, try to explore ways that we can get the best out of him.
“He is a great person, going to be great for our group and we are looking forward to what that can potentially be.”
