Jimmy Kimmel spotted a rare moment of honesty from Donald Trump on Wednesday.
“I don’t know if he had a mental lapse or if he just forgot to keep lying, but … he said he lost!” Kimmel said, then rolled footage of Trump at an event earlier that day.
At first, Trump delivered his usual bluster about the 2020 election.
“We did much better, by the way, in the election of 2020 than we did in 2016, just remember that,” Trump said. “Millions and millions of votes more.”
Then, Trump delivered the line that left Kimmel stunned.
“But they beat us by a whisker. They beat us just by a little whisker. He beat us from the basement,” said Trump, who usually falsely claims he won the election.
“OK, good,” Kimmel said. “Was that so hard? I mean, he’s finally at the acceptance stage of grief.”
Trump has said before that he lost by a whisker, only to walk it back later.
“I said that sarcastically,” Trump said when asked about it during the debate earlier this month. “That was said sarcastically.”

Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday picked apart former President Donald Trump’s new “brand crap to sell to his lemmings.”
“Hold on to your MAGA hats because this one is going to cost you,” Kimmel said of the $100,000 watches unveiled earlier in the day by the GOP nominee, who he mockingly dubbed “Rolex Luthor.”
“Man, he will slap his name on anything at all, doesn’t matter what it is,” Kimmel continued. “Donald Trump watches, Donald Trump coins, Donald Trump Jr., any garbage they hand him, he will put his name on it for a dollar,” he zinged Trump’s eldest son.
Kimmel also pointed out: “Let me see if I have this straight, the Biden economy [per Trump] is such a mess people can’t afford to buy apples, they can afford a $100,000 Trump watch?”
