In a tiny village in north central Idaho, a petrol station was destroyed by an explosion and fire, leaving two individuals seriously injured and two more persons thought to be dead.
It was soon after 3 p.m. when news of the explosion at the Cardiff Atkinson Distributing station broke. According to a news release from the Clearwater County Sheriff’s office on Wednesday, two individuals who suffered significant burns were transported by air ambulance to a nearby city’s hospital. The sheriff’s office stated that they thought there were other persons inside the building, but they did not provide any further information.
According to Idaho State Fire Marshal Knute Sandahl on Thursday, two other persons were also transferred to nearby hospitals; however, it was unknown what kind of injuries they had.
It’s a really tragic occurrence. A rather sizable debris field that spans an area around the size of two city blocks is present, and aside from the gas station, I think there have been other structures damaged, according to Sandahl.
According to Adams, “there were a few customers in the store who did not get out.” “We would want to thank the first responders and everyone who came out to try to help, and we would like to express our thoughts to everyone. Thank you very much for it.
According to Adams, the explosion happened as a fuel tanker was unloading fuel at the station, but the exact cause of the incident is yet unknown.
Adams remarked, “We’re just standing around trying to get information, just like everyone else.” “They wouldn’t let us get anywhere near it when we went up there last night.”
A special agent from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting Sandahl’s two deputy fire marshals who are investigating at the station. Cell coverage is unavailable in the isolated mountain village, and Sandahl was still in the dark about the incident.
