Zoe will not be back to present Mamma Mia on ITV! It’s a “shame,” according to I Have A Dream. “Aww, what do you know? It’s unfortunate, but we’re not returning to Corfu, where the show was filmed,” she remarked. “This time last year, we were getting ready to leave.”
Two up-and-coming actors were selected by the talent show to play the lead parts of Sophie and Sky in the well-liked musical honoring Abba’s music. Alan Carr, a comedian, was one of the judges, and Zoe hosted.
In response, Carr—a judge on the show—said, “I loved doing that show.” The structure had resemblance to the BBC talent shows Over the Rainbow, Any Dream Will Do, I’d Do Anything, and How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?
Those programs debuted in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2010, in that order. Other judges on the evening were Olivier Award winner Amber Riley, singer-songwriter Jessie Ware, and Samantha Barks, who starred in the London West End production of Frozen.
The show was looking for two up-and-coming musical theater talents to play the crucial parts of Sophie and Sky in this international hit feel-good musical—portrayed by Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper in the hit movies. The gorgeous Greek islands provided a stunning setting for the spectacle.
Viewers also had first row seats to watch as the competitors competed to land these highly sought-after parts on the West End, and were judged and coached by special guest industry stars through exclusive workshops, masterclasses, and performances.
