With Kansas City Current, KSHB and KMCI increase their broadcast collaboration for the 2024 season.
15 Kansas City Current matches are added to 38 the Spot/KMCI through a partnership.
Missouri’s Kansas City An expanded broadcast arrangement with the Kansas City Current for the 2024 season was announced on Tuesday by KSHB 41 and 38 the Spot.
In the Kansas City region, 38 the Spot will televise 15 games via local cable and satellite providers as well as over-the-air.
It’s no secret that Kansas City is a soccer fan, as Kathleen Choal, general manager of KSHB and KMCI and regional vice president for The E.W. Scripps Company, said on Tuesday when introducing the new alliance. Additionally, this is a fantastic chance for our audience, the city, and the region given the excitement around the new CPKC Stadium.
Thanks to a recent collaboration with Scripps Sports, a branch of Scripps and the parent company of KSHB and KMCI, the extended match lineup has already begun. 38 Current matches that are slated to telecast nationally on ION will be simulcast on The Spot.
According to Scripps Sports president Brian Lawlor, the NWSL and the company will begin a new multi-year relationship in 2024. “We are happy to give the fantastic athletes in the NWSL greater recognition. This includes Kansas City, where KSHB and KMCI are pleased to announce that every family in the area will have access to 15 KC Current games via cable, satellite, or over-the-air.
KC Current midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta named drum honoree for Chiefs-Bengals game
KC Current midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta was named the drum honoree for the Kansas City Chiefs game against their bitter rivals the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, the team announced.
The Haygoods, a family band that consists of five brothers and one sister, will perform the national anthem.
Both the Missouri and Kansas Highway Patrol will present the colors.
Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off on the same day, and the Chiefs will celebrate the Latino community and culture in collaboration with the NFL’s “Por La Culture” (for the culture) initiative.
At halftime, there will be a performance from Grupo Folklórico Izcalli and the Guadalupe Centers’ Elementary Aztec Folkloric Dance Team.
Grupo Folklórico Izcall is an all-women Mexican dance group formed in 2021.
The dance group’s mission is to share Mexican culture with the Kansas City area.
