Known for being a ladies’ man, Simon Cowell has frequently stated that he never intended to get married. However, he has now proposed to his long-term partner and the mother of his sole child, Lauren Silverman, by putting a ring on her finger.

When Lauren first met Simon in 2004 at the Sandy Lane resort in Barbados, she was married to real estate tycoon Andrew Silverman, who was rumored to be a close friend of Simon’s. This made for a controversial start to their relationship. Simon dated other women even though he was in love with her, such as TV personality Terri Seymour and cosmetics artist Mezhgan Hussainy, with whom he got engaged in 2010–2011.
Following his annulment from Mezhgan, Simon and Lauren, who remained wed, started having discreet affairs. But the couple was forced to make public their 2013 pregnancy announcement when Lauren became pregnant. Andrew filed for divorce in 2015, claiming adultery as the reason. In April 2022, he stated to the British tabloid The Sun, “I am organizing everything because if I don’t, I know what will happen—there will be 600 people and it will spiral out of control, just like my 50th birthday celebration. A significant adjustment that Eric has made to Simon’s life is that the British humorist has slowed down to accommodate family life and has given up smoking.
