Exeter City defender departs club under mutual consent…..

Exeter City defender Cheick Diabate has joined Bradford City on a season-long loan, with a break clause in January.

The defender heads to Valley Parade to link up with Graham Alexander’s Bantams for the rest of the 24/25 League Two campaign.

Cheick has made 76 appearances to date for City, scoring three times.

Speaking about Cheick’s loan, Manager Gary Caldwell said: “Cheick came to me to ask to go out on loan as he wanted to play games and we felt that it’s a good opportunity for him to join Bradford City.

“Cheick has joined on a season-long loan with a break clause in January, which will allow him to get more game time and to help him progress and move closer to being an Exeter City regular.

“I have had conversations with Cheick and he wants to play more regular football. He did brilliantly in spells but has had injuries which have kept him out of the team.

“We want to develop his career and get him in as a regular Exeter city player but at the moment competition in that position is very strong.

“We look forward to seeing how Cheick develops at Bradford.”

Pat Jones on joining the Grecians

Pat Jones has given his first interview as he because City’s 12th signing of the summer, putting pen to paper on deadline day to secure a permanent transfer from Huddersfield Town.

21-year-old Jones, who is a Wales U21 international, linked up with his new teammates in the surrounds of Worsley Park where the team are based ahead of Saturday’s match at Bolton, and is looking forward to getting going.

“I am really pleased. It has been a hectic day and I can’t wait to get going.”

“I heard about the interest a few days a go, and Gary [Caldwell] is someone that I have known through my agent for a years now, and it has really accelerated in the last day.

“It’s a long way down south and it is a big move for me, but I’m really keen for it and I really want to play for this football club. It will be great to see the boys in action tomorrow, which is something I really wanted to do.

“The way this club has a reputation for developing young players, and I am at a point in my career now where I really want consistent first team football and show what I can do.

“I’m really attracted to the manager’s beliefs and how he wants teams to play.”
