Zoe Ball made a welcome return to her BBC Radio 2 show on Tuesday morning after she dramatically “vanished off air” midway through Monday’s show.
The radio host, 51, had initially been running late for Monday’s edition of The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show after getting a flat tyre on the way to work.
Travel reporter Richie Anderson gallantly filled in until Ball was able to get there, however listeners were left puzzled when she disappeared mid-broadcast.
It was then left to Anderson and presenter Ken Bruce to cover for the absent Ball.
A spokesperson for the BBC later said she was “sick”.
Taking to social media on Monday, Ball explained she had experienced “delayed shock” after suffering “a bit of an incident” while driving to the studio.
Elaborating further on Tuesday, she told listeners she was left shaken after her car tyre ran flat on the A3 which caused “damage” to the road.
Assuring listeners she was now “all good now,” the radio host thank Anderson and Bruce for standing in for her.
Ball said: “My good news is I’ve made it into work on time and in one piece. I’ve not torn up the gantry on the A3 this morning, apologies for the damage. I am planning on staying for the whole show.
“But it does go to show you never can tell. Thanks so much to Richie and Ken for masterfully holding the show together yesterday.”

BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball has suffered a brutal fresh blow as her show is axed amid family health woes. ITV recently confirmed that a talent show, presented by BBC Radio 2’s Zoe, would come to an end after just one season on air.
Zoe will not return to present ITV’s Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream and says it is a “shame”. “Aww d’you know what? We’re not going back to Corfu [where the show was filmed] – it’s a shame,” she said. “This time last year – packing our bags to go.”
The talent show found two brand new theatre stars to take on the lead roles as Sophie and Sky in the beloved production, which celebrates the music of Abba. It was hosted by Zoe and judged by the likes of comedian Alan Carr.
Carr, who was a judge on the series, replied: “I loved doing that show.” The format was similar to that of the BBC competitions How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria?, Any Dream Will Do, I’d Do Anything and Over the Rainbow.
Those shows aired in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010 respectively. The show’s other judges included singer-songwriter Jessie Ware, Olivier Award-winner Amber Riley, and Samantha Barks, a star of Frozen in London’s West End.
The series was searching to find two future musical theatre stars to play the integral roles of Sophie and Sky (played by Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper in the hit films) in this global smash-hit feel-good musical. The show was set within the beautiful backdrop of the idyllic Greek islands.
And viewers had front row seats as the contestants will be judged and mentored by guest industry stars through unique workshops, masterclasses and performances, as they aimed to cast these highly sought after roles on the West End.
