Amanda Holden breaks silence on co-star’s absence after Davina McCall ‘injured’ him
Amanda Holden’s Heart Radio co-star Jamie Theakston has been forced off the airwaves following surgery on his throat after fans’ concerns.
Amanda Holden has opened up about the true extent of her co-star Jamie Theakston’s absence from Heart Radio today – and it’s all down to Davina McCall. Back on the airwaves after the weekend, fans were welcomed to the show by Amanda, 53, and her stand-in co-star Jason King aka JK, as Jamie rests at home following surgery.
Yesterday, the 53-year-old told fans he had a throat lesion removed after listeners sparked concerns about his health following on-air coughing fits. Issuing a health update during Monday’s show, JK, 49, told listeners that Jamie, 53, “is not too good when it comes to his voice.”
Amanda went on to explain: “For the last year, Jamie sort of coughs like an old geezer in the morning, he’s been going [demonstrates noise], we’ve been going ‘get it up Jamie, get it up’.
“Sometimes it’s been on air. Anyway, Davina, who stood in for me while I was working, gave him a big cuddle and she sort of injured him slightly around the throat earlier.
“She gently… she got him in a head lock to say goodbye, she’s very affectionate, we love Davina, but it hurt him!
