Out of favour Burnley midfielder set to join Eredivisie side Fortuna Sittard on loan
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Fortuna Sittard are close to completing their twelfth signing of the summer after reaching an agreement to sign an out of favour Burnley man. The player they’ve agreed to sign is midfielder Samuel Bastien, who joined the Clarets two years ago from Pro League side Standard Liège. Bastien will join Fortuna on a season-long loan deal.
Samuel Bastien has featured just 24 times for Burnley since making the move in 2022. The majority of those appearances came in Burnley’s Championship winning campaign under Vincent Kompany, as the DR Congo international netted twice and provided an assist in 18 league appearances. Last season the former Anderlecht and Chievo Verona midfielder experienced a loan spell in Turkey with Kasımpaşa, but he was haded just seven appearances.
Fortuna Sittard have already done an incredible job at strengthening their side for the new season. The likes of Shawn Adewoye, Syb van Ottele, Onur Demir and Mattijs Branderhorst have all joined Danny Buijs’ side for free, with Samuel Bastien looking like the next man to join a long list of summer signings. They’ll certainly be a team to keep an eye on this season having finished 10th last term.
