Breaking news: Houston Texans Sign $125m Former 1st-Round Pick and  Super Bowl-Champion Supersar Amid Concerning Injury

On Saturday, the Houston Texans signed an offensive tackle with Super Bowl-winning experience. The team needed to add extra depth at offensive tackle due to an injury in training camp.

Charlie Heck is battling a foot injury

According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC,  Charlie Heck will miss time in training camp due to a foot injury:

Veteran offensive tackle Charlie Heck is out for a few weeks after a flareup of plantar fasciitis in his foot, according to league sources.

Heck, 27, underwent testing Tuesday after being sidelined at training camp.

The Texans’ 2020 fourth-round pick has played in 41 games and started in 21 games. He appeared in six games and played four for the Texans last season.

The Houston Texans are signing an OT

According to Wilson, the Texans are signing Cameron Erving. After being a standout for the Florida State Seminole’s national championship team, the Cleveland Browns selected Erving with the No. 19 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

The Browns traded Erving to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017. He won Super Bowl LIV as a member of the Chiefs. Erving has spent time with the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers.

Cameron Erving on criticism: 'People get a lot of this stuff confused'

Erving has played in 98 games and started in 58. The 31-year-old offensive tackle played in three games for the Saints last season. He started in two games.

How Cameron Erving played last season

Pro Football Focus gave Erving a 49.0 overall grade for his play last season. He earned a 70.5 grade for his pass blocking. He gave up one sack and four pressures in 120 pass-blocking attempts.

Erving will give the Texans much-needed depth while Heck rehabs this summer. Erving is talented enough to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. However, when he returns from his injury, he’ll have to beat out Heck, a homegrown talent.
