The Billy Gilmour transfer saga appears to be approaching its conclusion
Gianluca Di Marzio reported late last night that Napoli is on the verge of securing a deal for Billy Gilmour, with expectations high that an agreement with Brighton would be finalized today.
Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, jetted into London yesterday, setting the stage for a crucial meeting with Brighton on Wednesday. Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport has taken things a step further, claiming that the two clubs have nearly ‘reached’ an agreement for Gilmour’s transfer.
While the deal isn’t signed yet, a verbal agreement on the transfer fee seems to be in place, with Napoli set to pay around €12 million for the young midfielder. However, that figure has raised eyebrows, as it’s unusually low for Brighton, a club known for being shrewd negotiators when it comes to player sales. The deal is reportedly ‘imminent,’ but the surprisingly low price tag has many wondering if Brighton is offering an unexpected discount.
