Premier League we are coming' Aston Villa fans rejoice as they confirm their play-off place - Birmingham Live

Douglas Luiz joined Juventus for around £42million earlier this summer, coming as a huge blow to Villa after playing a huge role in their superb season that saw them secure a place in the Champions League

Douglas Luiz has aimed a subtle dig at Aston Villa after sealing his move to Juventus – claiming he cares more about the size of the club he plays for rather than the league.

The Brazilian midfielder joined Juventus for around £42million earlier this summer – with Villa paying around £18.5m for two players, Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea, to come the other way

His exit came as a blow to Villa after playing a huge role in their superb season that saw them secure a place in the Champions League – starting 35 of their Premier League games, scoring nine and assisting five.

When asked for his reasons for leaving Villa and the Premier League, Luiz said he was more concerned with the “size of the club” rather than what league he was playing in, insisting any player would want to play for a team as big as Juventus.
